Nate Maingard is a guitar player and vocalist from Cape Town, South Africa. He learned to play the guitar during his travels through South Africa and England. He began playing professionally in 2009.
Early Life
[edit]Nate was born in Scarborough, Cape Town. In the years of his youth his father built a green colored house that would later become the workshop for some of the world's finest made guitars, Maingard Guitars. Spending time with his father and experiencing his love for music inspired within Nate his own passion for music. He listened to and mimicked such artists as the Beatles and Feist. He began playing local gigs and received very positive reviews from the crowds, even after having to leave on multiple occasions, declaring "I'm sorry, but the waves in Scarbs are cooking, I'm going to get barreled!" With his attitude and charisma he became a musical legend among Cape Town, now slowly spreading to the world at large.
Music Career
[edit]Maingard's music varies from indie-folk to soft rock and defies characterization. His lyrics are powerful and often contain within them truth. The line from his song Just Like You, "I hold onto my love like a sailor holds onto his last breath", is prominently spray painted in the bathroom of the hall in which he performed his first gig. His first Album, titled "As I am" is available for download on Jamendo. Nate is now working on new material while managing the guitar center turned wellness center that is his house.
