User:TheCoffeeAddict/Asked me to edit for you?
This is an essay. It contains the advice or opinions of one or more Wikipedia contributors. This page is not an encyclopedia article, nor is it one of Wikipedia's policies or guidelines, as it has not been thoroughly vetted by the community. Some essays represent widespread norms; others only represent minority viewpoints. |
Many people have approached me to help you edit Wikipedia or promote you or your business. If you did this, read this page. This page shows the reasons why I will not help anyone advertise on Wikipedia.
Wikipedia's conflict of interest policy states that I should avoid making edits where external relationships can compromise the neutrality. I have even been offered payment for this.
If you asked me to edit for you
[edit]Please remember that Wikipedia is not a business directory, an advertisement or a place to promote yourself (unless you are notable enough). Hence, I refuse to make such edits for you. I edit out of my own free will and I refuse to help promote anything as I adhere and uphold Wikipedia policy.
Wikipedia is written from a neutral point of view. It is not a place where one can promote his own business, improve one's image or to advertise his services. Remember that Wikipedia is an encylopedia and is not a business directory (see WP:NOTADVERTISING) or a place where you can advertise.
Exceptions
[edit]- Obvious vandalism (see WP:VANDALISM to see what constitutes vandalism)
So, where do I go from here?
[edit]If you have no other interest other than to promote yourself, I suggest that you go to the Yellow pages or find an advertising company. If you simply want to improve your company's image on Wikipedia, then you should do something good. Wikipedia is not trying to attack you. It is a neutral encyclopedia.
If you are genuinely notable, someone will have written an article about you. Do not edit it. Simply propose changes on the talk page.
