Dan Watson is an American deathcore vocalist. He is best known as the current vocalist of American deathcore band Enterprise Earth and the former vocalist of English internet band Infant Annihilator. He also performs vocals for his own internet band/studio project Mire Lore—a collaboration project with Frankie Cilella (Existence Has Failed guitarist and ex-guitarist of Bodysnatcher).[3] Watson is well-known in deathcore circles and frequently appears on lesser-known deathcore artists' songs as a guest vocalist to help promote their music. He has guested on over 20 different artists' songs since 2013.(see Discography)
Apart from music, Watson is the owner of Death Wind Clothing; a clothing brand that sells graphic t-shirts and other clothing.[2]
History
[edit]In 2012—after leaving the band Betrayer due to legal issues[4]—Watson decided to search Facebook for a new band to start an internet project with to do in his spare time, wanting a project he could do from home without having obligations to tour and dedicate a lot of time to it. He discovered the English band Infant Annihilator when they had only 1,000 "likes". He thought his voice would go well with their music, so he messaged them, asking to do vocals over their instrumental releases, with no intention of it being a serious project due to them being separated by distance, and they agreed. After the band heard Watson's vocals on their song "Decapitation Fornication", they asked Dan to record his vocals on their entire album The Palpable Leprosy of Pollution.[5] They soon began garnering viral popularity online—growing to around 20,000 "likes" within a month[4]—with the release of the music video for their song "Decapitation Fornication" (with over 8 million views as of 2019).[5][6][7] The Palpable Leprosy of Pollution was released December 12, 2012.
Watson left the band in late 2013[8] and publicly announced his departure from the band February 22, 2014.[9][10] He later explained that he left the band because he did not feel like he was considered an equal in the band (or even as a member of the band), as he was not being paid for any music or merchandise sales (he never signed a contract), and the band never consulted his input for any band decisions.[4][5][11] He never met Infant Annihilator in person and never received any money for his work on The Palpable Leprosy of Pollution.[5] As for his relationship with the band after breaking up, he said in a March 2016 interview that he is "cool with the guys now."[4] Shortly after leaving Infant Annihilator, Watson went on to form the deathcore band Enterprise Earth with guitarist BJ Sampson.
Watson also performs vocals for his internet band/studio project Mire Lore—a collaboration project with Frankie Cilella (Existence Has Failed guitarist and ex-guitarist of Bodysnatcher; performs all instruments).[3] In 2013—before leaving Infant Annihilator—Watson had tried starting a beatdown/deathcore project called Faith in Convergence—a collaboration project with the band Shores of Acheron—but the project was abandoned.
