I'm here as an editor to help improve content and to participate in a truly awesome project such as Wikipedia is. I consider myself to be more of an editor than a content producer. I like to find references for obscure trivia that has been flagged. I don't like excessive wikilnks. I think they are one of the coolest things about Wikipedia, but used excessively make the body text more difficult to read. Most good things in life are best in moderation. I will bring up topics in the talk section though I don't like to debate. More that likely even if you are dead wrong I won't reply or join in the discussion unless you send a private message to me. I treat this page and my sandbox as testing ground for anything or to give me something to learn. Just remember be bold and give everyone the benefit of not having doubt in them.

Tip of the Day[edit]

Posting on the Wikipedia Community Bulletin Board

The Community bulletin board (aka WP:CBB) is a terrific way to let your newly created Portal, WikiProject, etc., be known to the community, including at the Community Portal. It's also a great way to recruit fellow editors. If you post a notice there, please follow these guidelines:

  • Use present tense.
  • Bold the main link.
  • Keep it short and sweet, news style.
  • Use pulldates (one week) by inserting them into a hidden comment like this: <!-- Pulldate: July 3 -->

Or just follow the instructions on the page, which will be visible when you edit it.

You can also submit WikiProject and similar news to the relevant section of the Wikipedia Signpost.

Tip of the Day Random[edit]

Tip of the moment...
Getting your edit count

Instead of counting your edits 500 at a time in your contributions list, you could look up your grand total on your Preferences page. Your number of edits is listed under "Basic information", near the top of the page.

To get more details about your edits, try X!Tools's Edit Counter, which tallies up all your edits of each area of Wikipedia, and displays the totals for each and the grand total. It also shows the number of unique pages edited, the average edits per page, number of edits still active, and how many edits have been deleted.

To add this auto-randomizing template to your user page, use {{totd-random}}

Statue of Liberty

The Statue of Liberty (Liberty Enlightening the World) is a colossal neoclassical sculpture on Liberty Island in New York Harbor, within New York City. The copper statue, an 1886 gift to the United States from the people of France, was designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, and its metal framework was built by Gustave Eiffel. It is a figure of Libertas, the Roman goddess of liberty, holding a torch and a tablet bearing the date of the United States Declaration of Independence. A broken chain and shackle lie at her feet as she walks forward, commemorating the national abolition of slavery following the American Civil War. After its dedication the statue became an icon of freedom and of the United States, and it was later seen as a symbol of welcome to immigrants arriving by sea. Its completion was marked by New York's first ticker-tape parade and a dedication ceremony presided over by President Grover Cleveland. (Full article...)
