The Oregon Cultural Trust is a trust fund created to support the arts, humanities, and heritage[1] in the U.S. state of Oregon.
History
[edit]The idea of a "cultural trust" began to take shape in Oregon in 1998 with the Oregon Arts and Culture Summit in Portland.[2]
- 1999 - Cultural Trust Fund Investment Account
- 2 governor -appointed task force, plus survey with over 20,000 Oregonians; extensive discussion and research by arts and humanities leaders
- Resulted in House Bill 2923, which provides for the means to establish funding for arts and cultural projects in Oregon
How it works
[edit]Donors to any non-profit arts organization in Oregon may choose to donate a matching amount, up to U.S. $500, to the Oregon Cultural Trust. This matching amount can be claimed as a tax-credit on the Oregon state income tax return.
Funding also provided by sale of the cultural trust license plate. Plates numbers are preceded by "CU".
