Born in 1953 in Rockingham, North Carolina, Robert is an American bass player know most widely for his work with the now disbanded group Dryewater and his work on the Southpaw album Cite error: There are <ref>
tags on this page without content in them (see the help page).where he is credited as a vocalist and bassist. In 1975 Robert accepted an offer from Bill Pinkney to play for the original Drifters. Robert toured with the Drifters until 1979 when he accepted an offer to play with Ollie Woodson and the Temptations until 1983. In 1983 Robert teamed with longtime friend and former Drifters guitarist Eddie Byerly to play for Jimmy Lopez and Jubilation for several years before Robert left the band and the road to settle in Surfside Beach, South Carolina. Since then, Robert has played locally with Mike McQuaid for many years and teamed with Drummer Jim Vest and Keyboardist Andy Theuring for special events. Robert has worked as an Engineer for local television station WPDE since 2001. Robert married Vicki Winston in 1985.[1]
