Analysis of Article

After Reading the article about the trickster Brer Rabbit, I noticed that there are a couple of points lacking from the Wikipedia. One point is that the paragraph lacks information about who Brer Rabbit really is. Also I feel information regarding how Brer Rabbit symbolized other things besides being a comical character was not mentioned.

Following in this tradition, critics since Gates have come to assert that another popular African American folk trickster, Brer Rabbit. Brer Rabbit is the "creative way that the slave community responded to the oppressor's failure to address them as human beings created in the image of God." The figurative representative of this slave community, Brer Rabbit is the hero with a "fragile body but a deceptively strong mind that allow him to create his own symbols in defiance of the perverted logic of the oppressor. By twisting language to create these symbols, Brer Rabbit not only was the personification of the ethic self-preservation for the slave community, but also and alternative response to their oppresor's false doctrine of anthropolgy. Through his language of trickery, Brer Rabbit outwits his oppresors, deconstructing, in small ways, the hierachy of subjugation ti which his weak body forces him to physically conform.

African American folk trickster "Brer Rabbit" is one of the most popular chosen trickster. Brer Rabbit was a creative way for African American to get revenge on their bigger opponents known as the "White" people the slave owners. He was weak but was known to be very clever and could outsmart the oppressor so he the "hero" created his own symbols of defiance. Brer Rabbit was not only a perfect example of self-preservation but a symbol that help blacks achieve many things they held back on. His trickery language helped him caused deconstruction towards the oppressor. Brer Rabbit was so popular in the United States because of the stories by Joel Chandler Harris. Joel Chandler Harris used his own version of Brer Rabbit in his folktales Uncle Remus. It summarize the story of Brer Rabbit and the Tar Baby. The creation of the story was to put a end to that no good trickster Brer Rabbit.

Many viewers see Brer Rabbit as just a comical and bad character but its more than that. There are way more ways to view Brer Rabbit, it goes deeper than just a mischief person or animal. There are times where talking about Brer Rabbit was mainly about stealing and being dishonest. By many beliefs, he was just a representation of a mistreated African American that wanted revenge and to show that they could accomplished anything as well as others. Brer Rabbit was used as a symbol.
