Rutherford Platt (11 August 1894 – 28 March 1975) was an American nature writer and photographer who specialized in writing about trees.

Biography

Rutherford Platt was born 11 August 1894 in Columbus, Ohio.

Platt was a botanist for Rear Adm. Donald B. MacMillan's Arctic expeditions of 1947 and 1954.

He was an editor for The World's Work and Doubleday, Page & Company in the 1920s. He was a founder of Platt‐Forbes, Inc., an advertising agency representing food and industrial companies. In the 1950s he he founded Platt Productions Educational Films, from which he eventually retired.

He died on 28 March 1975 in Boston, Massachusetts.
