Koth is a village in the ditrict of Ballia. In accordance with an old journal" Akhbarul- Akhyar" written by Sheikh Abdul Haque Mohaddis of Dehli, this village was initially built by Mir Syed Mohammad Ibram,the grand Qazi and commandar-in-chief of the royal army of Feroz shah Tughlaq in order to guard the area for defence and administrative purpose. For this pupose the earth of a vast area was excavated and dumped in the center to make it a high hill so that all distant area around it can be taken care of from its top. Raja Majhouli also helped Syed Ibrahim in this task of establishing the royal army center. Late Chandra Shekhar was a native of Ibrahimpatti. During any rainy season the excavated area presented a picturisque scene of a large lake around the hill. Althogh the hill has lost its original hieght but the ruins are still there and reminds its significant in a non hilly area of plain agricultural land. The inhabitant of this village are the decendant of Mir Syed Ibrahim shah or "Syed Saheb" He belongs to the decendant of Syed Jalaluddin Bokhari whose tomb/Maqbara is situated in Uchh Sharif of Bhawalpur near Multan, in Pakistan. They are Also interrelated by marriage by the decendant of Syed Shahabuddin & Syed Shamsuddin who came from Girdez near Bokhara and settled in Kara Manikpur, near Allahabad. This is stated in part one page 170 of "Nuzhatul- Khawatir" and also mentioned in "Kanzul Ansab" for Sadaat Naqvi written in the history of "Gulzar Shams".
