- 1906 – Alfred Bucherer introduces the name theory of relativity, based on Max Planck’s term relative theory.
- 1909 – Gilbert N. Lewis and Richard Tolman coin the disputed term relativistic mass.
- 1911 – Alfred Robb coins the term rapidity.
