History of Native American Baha'is 1900-1960 (depending on extent of content this will be a section of Bahá'í Faith and Native Americans or a sub article ....)

ok - citation styles vary but the basic most common one comes from Wikipedia:Citation templates.

to use it there needs to be a section at the bottom for them to appear.

so basically you find the right kind of reference template, copy and paste into here and fill out as many of the sections as you can. Some are very important and some are ignorable.

1926 - Mr. Freeman - (Tribe/Nation unknown at this time)

Mr. Freeman was described as "...a young American Indian...) presented Native songs and a speech at the Bahá'í National Convention 1926 was reported to the national community through the Bahá'í News coverage in the June/July 1926 issue.

1937 - Mary Farley Stevison - Omaha

1938 - Melba Whetung Loft - Ojibwa (Chippewa) Canada

Melba Whetung Loft (Kinaaj-kwe - Kind, Gracious Woman) declared in 1938 - see Baha'i World 1985 in Memorium for her obituary. Her husband Jimmy Loft declared later.

Melba was born on December 24, 1912, Curve Lake Reserve, Ontario. She died in 1985 on the Tyeninega Rserve.

1938 - Marian Doxtater Steffes - Oneida

Maran Doxtater Steffes declared in 1938. She was living in California in 1965. See Baha'i News February 1965 pg.1 Marian was born in 1900. She married Fredrick (Fred) Steffes, also Oneida, on September 27, 1930. The Marian Steffes Baha'i School is named after her.

1943 - Melba M. Call King - Yupik

Sadye Joe Vincent declared on February 1957 in Pinon, Arizona. She is the first Dine/Navajo to become Baha'i. She married Vincent Vincenti in 1960.

1958 - Robert and Carol Mauelita - Dine (Navajo)
