Judith Lodge Judith Lodge is an artist working primarily in painting, drawing, and photography.

Biography

Judith Lodge was born on June 30, 1941, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to parents James and Jean Lodge. She studied at Macalester College, St. Paul, Minnesota, receiving a Bachelor of Science, and completed her Masters of Fine Art at Cranbrook Academy of Fine Art, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

Exhibitions

Lodge was included in the inaugural exhibition at the Vancouver Art Gallery's location on Hornby Street, a local survey called Vancouver Art and Artists 1931-1983, which included historical and contemporary artists and works.

Solo exhibitions include Judith Lodge: Personal Historical Land Portraits held at the Bau-Xi Gallery in Vancouver from October 13 to October 25, 1975; Judith Lodge: Canvas and Paper Targets at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria from June 23 to August 13, 1978; and Judith Lodge: Ink Drawings at the Surrey Art Gallery from April 29 to May 18, 1977.

An exhibition, Walls of Eden, was curated by Willard Holmes at Pender Street Gallery from November 21 to December 10, 1977; this exhibition was reviewed in Vanguard magazine, with an interview, by Jane Rule[1], and a painting from that exhibition, Spirit Wall, 1977, was purchased by the National Gallery of Canada in 1978.[2]

Her work was included in 9 out of 10 : A Survey of Contemporary Canadian Art, organized by the Art Gallery of Hamilton and held at that gallery from 8 November to 8 December, 1974, before travelling to Kitchener Waterloo Art Gallery 9 January to 2 February, 1975, and The Gallery/Stratford from 15 February to 15 March, 1975. She also exhibited in Vision '77, the Banff Festival of the Arts held from August 2 to 20th, 1977.

Lodge's work is included in the collections of the National Gallery of Canada[3], the Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery[4], and the Canada Council Art Bank[5].
