Temporary guidelines for editing

[edit]

These guidelines were made in order to address the concerns made here, as an alternative to the proposed blocks made in that discussion. These guidelines have no timeline for when they will expire, but will expire individually when it is determined that they are no longer necessary.

  1. Please do not participate in NPP until it is determined that you understand the related policies and can apply them appropriately.
  2. Please do not tag pages for speedy deletion, PROD, or AFD until it can be determined that you understand the related policies and can apply them appropriately.
  3. Please do not place warnings on editor's talk pages until it can be determined that you understand the related policies and guidelines related to these templates.
  4. Until it can be discussed at a later point, avoid any topics related to WikiProject Pornography. This includes removing the userbox from your user page.
  5. At least during the mentorship period, I would ask that you remove the "This user doesn't give a fuck about your opinion..." and also the "Don't be a dick" userbox from your user page and talk page. The reason for this is that Wikipedia is a collaborative environment where editors must communicate with one another in order to improve the encyclopedia. When an editor sees these userboxes, they may take it as incivility, which may cause the editor to take an offensive/defensive tone when leaving a message, even if they don't mean to. Basically, those two userboxes cause problems where there otherwise wouldn't be any.
  6. For consistancy, and also so that editors attempting to carry on a continued conversation won't return to find their conversations prematurely archived, I would ask that you leave MiszaBot's archive parameter at 5 days, and that you not manually archive conversations on your talk page. That's not to say you can't outright remove incivil comments left on your talk page, but that you otherwise let MiszaBot archive the conversations.
