Peter Bradley-Fulgoni is an Anglo-Italian pianist, born in 1957. He has made his career through many international concerts in Europe[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8] and Russia, as well as being a professional teacher in the United Kingdom.[9][10]

Biography

Peter Bradley-Fulgoni studied first in England with Beryl Chempin and then at the Purcell School in the 1970s,[1][10][11][12] followed by the Royal College of Music[1][13] with Kendall Taylor and Phyllis Sellick,[9][10] where he gained a place in the final of the Chappell Piano Prize, after winning the BRMB Radio Music Scholarship.[1][8][14][15] He undertook postgraduate work with Alexander Kelly of the Royal Academy of Music,[10] and took part in Masterclasses with Edith Vogel.[9] He studied in Italy[1] with Bruno Mezzena[8][10] (a pupil of Arturo Benedetti-Michelangeli) then in Moscow with Mikhael Murach[9] of the Moscow Conservatory (a pupil of Vera Gornostayeva), and in London with Andrzej Esterhazy (a pupil of Heinrich Neuhaus), after winning awards from the Martin Musical Scholarship Fund and the Italian Institute of Culture (London).[9]

Peter Bradley-Fulgoni has participated in numerous international piano competitions, including the Bromsgrove Festival's International Young Musician's Platform (UK)[10] the F. Neglia International Piano Competition (Enna - Italy)[8][10] and was also awarded a 'diploma of honour' two years running at the Maria Canals International Piano Competition (Spain),[1][10] as well as gaining a mention by Paul Badura-Skoda at the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition (Italy).[9][10] He made his Wigmore Hall debut[13][1][9][10][16][17] after winning the Peter Morrison prize,[9][10][16] a competition organised under the auspices of the Incorporated Society of Musicians.[1] Subsequent engagements included recitals and concerto performances in Europe[1][3][4][5][6][7][8] (together with broadcasts in the UK for BBC Radio 3),[1][9][10][11][18][19][20][21] and also in China[9][10][11] and in the Ukraine where he gave masterclasses as well as performances at the Lviv Conservatory of Music in the Virtuosi International Music Festival and Summer Academy.[9][22]

Bradley-Fulgoni's repertoire ranges between different periods and styles, from J. S. Bach,[1][5][8][23] Beethoven[3][4][5][7][18][23][24][25][26][27][28] and Brahms[13][8][15][17][20][29] to Scriabin, Schoenberg[1][23][25][27] and Di Gesu,[23][25][30][31] including many obscure gems from the western canon,[25] such as works by Domenico Zipoli[3][24][32] and Robert Gerhard.[7][9][23] Whilst based in Italy Peter Bradley-Fulgoni was selected to play at the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome in a concert series organised by A.GI.MUS. (The Association of Italian Young Musicians).[9] In 2001, he played at St Martin-in-the-Fields,[31][33] London, as part of the Pianists of the World series.[9]

His first CD album was devoted to Brahms piano music and was recorded for the Altamira label.[10][29] He later recorded an album of Schumann piano music for Delphian Records,[9][11][12][34][35][36][37][38] followed by an album of Beethoven's "Emperor" Piano Concerto[9][23] and Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No.3 in D minor with the Sinfonia of Leeds[6][36][39][40][41] and David Greed for Foxglove Audio.[9][23][42] Peter Bradley-Fulgoni released a DVD on the "Soundtechniques"[2][43] label (Piano Maestros series)[44] for Classic FM TV, which was launched in 2007.[9] In 2012, he released a CD of mainly piano works of Massimo Di Gesu and composers of the Second Viennese School,[23] entitled "PianOLYPHONY"[9][30][31] for Foxglove Audio.[45]

Career

In the summer of 2007, he performed at the Skryabin Museum in Moscow.[31][33] In 2008 Bradley-Fulgoni gave a concert tour of the Ukraine, together with masterclasses, organised by the Lviv Philharmonic[22] as well as performing at the Sviatoslav Richter Memorial Apartment in Moscow[2][31][33][45] under the auspices of the Pushkin Museum[9][46] and for the Moscow State University.[45] In the summer of 2009 he was invited to perform for the Sviatoslav Richter Foundation in Tarusa[2][45] (Russia). Other engagements have included concerts in Poland,[6] Italy,[3][4] France (Salle Cortot Paris).[31][33] Active also in the field of musicology, essays of his on Bach,[47] Beethoven,[2] and the concept of dissonance (from the Second Viennese School to the 21st century)[30] have been published by "arq" - Architectural Research Quarterly (Cambridge University Press).[45] His teaching engagements[22][48] include the position of senior piano teacher at Shrewsbury School,[9][10][11][48] UK where his most noted pupil was Galin Ganchev.[48]
