Changed wording of first sentence from "A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck Ecuador 22 km (14 mi) west-southwest of Cayambe on August 12, 2014 at a depth of 22.0 km (13.7 mi)." to "On August 12, 2014 a magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck Ecuador 22 km (14 mi) west-southwest of Cayambe at a depth of 11.9 km (7.4 mi)." and corrected improper information about quake depth.

Added: The earthquake shook Ecuador's capitol Quito 32 km (20mi) away causing large dust clouds and prompting the temporary shutdown of Quito's Mariscal Sucre International Airport.[2] The earthquake killed at least 4 people including two men who were buried by a landslide in a local quarry. It also injured at least 8 others.

Earthquakes are commonplace in Ecuador because of its position along the "Ring of Fire," an area of high seismic activity that encircles the Pacific Ocean.[4]

Wikipedia 2nd Contribution:

I added the word "acute" to the first sentence to better describe the disease. I then added a link to a wikipedia article on acute diseases. Then I deleted the next sentence and incorporated that information by adding "While it produces relatively mild symptoms in taurine cattle, the Jembrana virus is particularly severe in Bali cattle where it has a fatality rate of approximately seventeen percent." In that sentence I linked the words "taurine cattle" to a Wikipedia article. I added the word "Bali" to the next sentence to describe the island in Indonesia where the outbreak occurred and added a link to a Wikipedia article on this island. Then I added "Within two years of its appearance the disease had killed an estimated 26,000 of the approximately 300,000 cattle on Bali Island." to describe the temporal and magnitude aspects of the outbreak. I also added "After an incubation period of 5-12 days the disease produces symptoms including inappetence, fever, lethargy, enlargement of the lymph nodes, and diarrhoea." to describe the onset and effects of infection.

I found two scientific sources for my information. I added these sources to the article and cited the new information I added from them. I also reviewed the entire article for plagiarism (it was only about three sentences originally). However, when I attempted to go to the old sources the links would not bring me to any relevant information. Because of this I deleted the old source links and made sure to check all the information that was already there against my own sources. After this there was still the final sentence "There is at least one strain that has been sequenced." which I could not validate with my sources. However, I managed to find a source that did in fact validate this and added this source to the article citations as well.

Finally I added links under the "See Also" section to three Wikipedia articles that are pertinent to the topic Acute (medicine), Lentivirus, and Incubation period.

Wikipedia 3rd Contribution:

I changed the wording of the first and second sentences to better flow into my addition. I then added "As of March 2016 the outbreak is still ongoing, and should continue without changes to Shimla's water system." to comment on the current and probably future situation. Next I added "Unofficial estimates put the number of infected at over 10,000, with half of the total families in Shimla having experienced infection." to show that the outbreak may be even larger than officials realize or admit. I then added the paragraph "The cause of the outbreak is Hepatitis E contamination in Shimla's water supply, stemming from improperly filtered sewage released into the the Ashwani Khud river system. The Hepatitis E virus, commonly contracted from fecal matter, attacks the liver of infected individuals thereby causing jaundice. Contaminated water finds its way into the the city's water supply schemes, located downstream from the sewage treatment plants. The problem is exasperated in winter months, when less rainfall leads to less water volume, and therefore higher concentration of the virus." I did this to identify the virus causing the disease and also to show how it was contaminating the water supply. I also wanted to explain why it was really showing up in the winter months of December through March.

I did not find any plagiarism in the original content of the article. I went and found three of my own sources, two news articles and a scientific page from the CDC and added these to the article. Then I went and cited the content I had added.

Finally I added a link to the Wikipedia article "Hepatitis E" and created a "See Also" section where I added a link to the Wikipedia article "Water Treatment".

Checked for plagiarized material and found that "Acrophialophora fusispora is an ascomycete fungus that is a plant and human pathogen." did not have a source to back it up. I went and found three scientific articles about the fungus and cited them. In these articles I found information that supported this sentence so I kept the sentence in place and added the citation behind it. I also added that the fungus also affects animals. I then added five sentences explaining where the fungus is found, how it appears to infect humans, health complications caused by infection, the number of confirmed cases, and its ability to also infect dogs. "The fungus is naturally found in soils in tropical to temperate regions. It is poorly studied but appears to opportunistically infect the eyes, lungs, and brains of humans, particularly affecting the airways of patients with cystic fibrosis. Eye infections have causes keratitis, while a cerebral infection in a young girl resulted in a brain abscess. At least seven confirmed cases have been described, but misidentifications may mean it is more common. The fungus also has two documented cases of infection in dogs."

Next I added links to other wikipedia articles about cystic fibrosis, keratitis, and brain abscesses so readers would be able to easily read about how these conditions affect humans.
