Sonata K. 455 (F.399/L.209) in G major is a piano work by Italian composer Domenico Scarlatti.
Description
[edit]Sonata K. 455 in G major is part of a couplet with the previous sonata. Joyful and extroverted, it is one of four sonatas based on the principle of repeating notes[1] in the right hand, along with sonatas K. 141 (toccata), 366, and 421[2].
The main manuscript is Venice XI/2 (1756), copied for Maria Barbara; the others are Parma XIII/2 and Münster II/48[3].

[edit]Sonata K. 455 has been performed on the piano by Vladimir Horowitz (1946, RCA ; 1962, Sony), Christian Zacharias (1979, EMI), Ievgueni Soudbine (2004, BIS), Yuja Wang (2011, DG), and Orion Weiss (2013, Naxos, vol. 15).
On the harpsichord, it has been recorded by Ralph Kirkpatrick (1971, Archiv), Colin Tilney (1979, L'Oiseau-Lyre/Decca), Scott Ross (1985, Erato)[4], Andreas Staier (1991, DHM), and Christophe Rousset (1997, Decca).
