Mitchell scored two tries in their 2023–24 European Rugby Champions Cup quarter-final victory over Bulls and then started in the semi-final elimination against Leinster.[17][18] At the end of that season he scored the winning try in the 2023–24 Premiership Rugby final as Northampton beat Bath to become league champions.[19]

He made his England debut off the bench as a replacement for Ben Youngs against Tonga and scored his first try as part of England's 69–3 victory.[20]
After making his debut Mitchell did not feature for England again until the 2023 Six Nations Championship.[21]
He was initially not included in the squad for the 2023 Rugby World Cup however an injury to Jack van Poortvliet led to his selection.[22]
He ended up as first choice starting in three of their pool fixtures.[23]
In the knockout phase he started the quarter-final victory over Fiji and semi-final elimination against champions South Africa as England finished third with the bronze medal.[24][25]

Career:
Caulfield appeared for his hometown club Taunton Titans and began his professional career with Exeter Chiefs making his first appearance in an Anglo-Welsh Cup fixture against Cardiff Blues in November 2016.[31] After being dual-registered with Cornish Pirates for four seasons he made a permanent transfer to the Pirates in May 2020.[31] Later that year he spent time on loan with Wasps RFC.[31]
In June 2022 having made more than 100 appearances for Cornish Pirates it was announced that Caulfield would leave to join London Irish.[32] He started in the 2022–23 Premiership Rugby Cup final which they lost against Exeter to finish runners up.[33] At the end of that season London Irish entered administration and in June 2023 it was confirmed that he had left to play for Bristol Bears.
