Are zoo animals living or just surviving?
Introduction
Did you know that zoo animals suffer every day? Everyone should think that animals should roam free in their natural habitats. I am going to teach you about zoochosis, do people even care about zoo animals, and do zoo animals even have the essentials to live.
Zoochosis
You know how we feel stressed sometimes? Imagine experiencing that every single day. Zoo animals often feel bored, and many of them are depressed. First, think about baby cubs: when their parents are taken away because they got too old, those cubs can become heartbroken. Can you imagine being separated from your parents? According to "Zoos Yay or Nay" by Rebecca Feler, “zoochosis is what they call it when animals start eating the wallpaper.” I would agree with this statement because zoos are not very nice to the animals, and they don't pay attention to eating the wallpaper. So, that is a good description of zoochosis. Additionally, they are taken away from their natural habitat. They are getting kidnapped. I don't think I would like being kidnapped very much. This can cause animals to have zoochosis. Second, animals could start eating the wallpaper, like what I was talking about earlier; they eat wallpaper like it's food. They could even eat their poop like it's candy! Finally, we should all consider being more kind to animals because you never know what that animal could be going through. It is clear that animals have the same emotions as humans; treat them how you would like to be treated.
Do people even care about zoo animals? Have you ever thought about how many zoo animals get kidnapped each year by people who only care about themselves and not the animals? They are taken from their original habitat and brought into a zoo, not even thinking about how that's hurting the animal. First of all, a lot of people who go to zoos don't ever think about how the animals are feeling. According to "Zoos Yay or Nay" by Rebecca Feler, “to protect the child, a zoo employee shot and killed Harambe.” I think that they cared more about the person than they did the gorilla. Instead of just trying to get the kid out safely, they killed Harambe. Like, how would you like it if I killed you? I'm just kidding, but it's the same thing. If you think about it, we are animals too; we are omnivores, and so was Harambe. Harambe was a western gorilla, and according to my calculations, western gorillas are omnivores. Finally, you should at least try to learn something about the animals at zoos because they are just like us; and actually, they are the same as us. So we should respect them like they are one of our family members, respect them like they're a classmate, respect them like they're a friend because they are not always going to be there. In conclusion, people don't care about what these zoo animals are going through or even how much they suffer.
Do animals even have the things they need to live?
Let's take a look at what animals need to live and what animals get in these zoos. For example, zoo animals have to live in tight spaces and don't get much room to move around. Could you imagine being stuck in a small space and not being able to move around? According to TIME for Kids, “animals might not be given proper living conditions.” I believe that this statement is true because zoo animals are given a small exhibit to live in for years. For example, most zoos put animals in small exhibits where the animals have no place to move around like they would be able to do in their natural habitat. As you can see, zoo animals are not treated fairly. Lastly, we should consider maybe raising money for zoos to have bigger exhibits for the animals to roam and be happy. We should just gnarly care more about animals and their environment.
Conclusion
As you can see, zoo animals should be treated way better than we treat them. That is why you should be nicer to animals while they last. Now, you have to promise me that you will be nice to any animal you see because you never know what could happen to them.
