If I tagged your image as orphaned, it is most likely because it appeared on the database report Wikipedia:Database reports/Unused non-free files. The policy for the use of non-free images can be found here.
I double-check the use/status of the images before tagging any as orphaned - thus AT THE TIME I reviewed the image it was not being used on any article. You can do this too, simply look at the bottom of any image description page, which will say "File Usage" and then list the pages the image is used on. For example, the image File:Riders in the Sky Davy Crockett.jpg should show that it is being used on the article Riders in the Sky Present: Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier. OR - the image File:376px-Bild-St Chrischona Turmkorb.jpg will show "No pages on the English Wikipedia link to this file. (Pages on other projects are not counted.)" - If a non-free file shows that information, it is orphaned.
The image may have been restored after I marked it as orphaned - if so, Be bold and simply remove the template from the image description page. You don't need to let me know if you've done this.
I do my best to revert or fix obvious vandalism to articles that may have led to an image being orphaned. Sometimes vandalism isn't easily discernible - if I missed it, please restore the article to a non-vandalized version! My tagging an image as orphaned is not in any way a condoning of the use or non-use of the image from the article - I am simply noting that the non-free image was not used on any article and informing you of that fact. If you, as the uploader, feel that the image will not be used in the future, please feel free to put the tag of {{Db-g7}} on the image description page, and an administrator will delete it relatively soon.
