Hacks/Hackers is a grassroots journalism organization, founded in 2009,[1] focused on improving journalism on the Internet. It organizes conferences and hackathons, and coordinates small grants to individual projects. As of 2020, it includes over 120 regional groups[2] and thousands of individual journalists ("hacks") and technologists ("hackers") working at the intersection of news and information.

[edit]Hacks/Hackers Connect was a series of events in partnership with Google's News Lab, starting in 2015.
Misinfocon
[edit]Misinfocon is a series of workshops and events on targeted misinformation, started in 2017. 1-3 events are held each year around the world, often as part of a larger event, run by independent tech + journalism groups.[3]
Truth & Trust Online
[edit]Truth & Trust Online is a conference series focused on how we maintain trust in information online. It has been held annually since 2019, supported by major indusstry partners.[4] https://www.hackshackers.com/resources/truthandtrustonline/
Organization
[edit]H/H is based in Dublin, and was founded by Rich Gordon, Aron Pilhofer, Chrys Wu, and Burt Herman. It incorporated as a non-profit in 2014.[5] As of 2021, the Board includes Jennifer 8. Lee and Mariano Blejman.
Regional groups
[edit]Major groups include those in Barcelona, Brisbane, Buenos Aires,[6] London,[7] Montreal, SF, Taipei, Zurich.
