Education and Career

Gaya Prasad Mishra 'Mayank' was a Hindi scholar and poet from the village Satpura, district Vaishali in the state of Bihar. He was the principal secretary of Nirala Sahitya Parishad, constituted by his professor Pt. Janaki Vallabh Shastri, in the name of the great Hindi poet, Suryakant Tripathi Nirala. Works

One of his major published works is the compilation titled Madhuasha, which contains his poem titled Jalne Ka Hai Naam Zindagi. This poem is a reflection of the significance of the struggles faced by human beings in their lifetime. An excerpt from the poem:

This translates to:

"There should not be any destruction in the world, no evil should be harboured in the minds of humans. People should work together in eradicating slavery and poverty from one another's lives. It is this thought which serves as the basis of both eternal peace as well as the spark of revolution. Thus struggle is the second name of life, as is aptly depicted by the burning of the sun, which spreads daylight, and by that of the moon, which illuminates the night."
