Hi There!

My name is Shellacious, and my main interest (on Wiki) is improving the quality of articles for spoken word performers.

Some of my faves aren't listed here yet, but I love Buddy Wakefield, Lydia Lunch, Clint Catalyst, Karen Finley, Vag Davis, and Anis Mojani.

Other things about me: student at UCLA, fascinated by Japanese culture...but hate Hello Kitty.

Godspeed!

Correction:

I'm aware of Wiki pages for the writers/spoken word performers listed in the section now noted via strike-through text. What I should have stated is that some of my favorites are (example, example, example) in addition to Buddy Wakefield, Lydia Lunch, et al-- i.e., those who do, indeed, have Wiki pages already.

Update:

While I don't have a lot of spare time, I'm still interested in contributing to Wikipedia whenever possible--and am doing my best to familiarize myself with both site policies as well as the means in which information is contributed.

As one who is interested in pop culture and the role new media plays in that which is deemed "notable," I've added to/edited Cory Kennedy's page. In the process, I've found myself particularly intrigued by the scrutiny placed on individuals who have utilized the internet to achieve a sense of notoriety/success.

I cannot emphasize enough how disinterested I am to engage in "edit-wars"; on the contrary, my goal is to contribute to the time-line of a rapidly-changing society: one in which "internet celebrities" have begun to appear in commercials, television programs, movies, magazines...even museums.

On the 'Talk Page' of Cory Kennedy, I go into (somewhat) excruciating detail on this topic.

In short, I can't help but perceive my Wiki 'User Page' as being akin to an 'About Me' section on Facebook (or MySpace, or just about any other social-networking site).

And by the way: yes, I realize Wikipedia is not Facebook or MySpace--and have, in fact, read the WP:NOTFACEBOOK and WP:NOTMYSPACE policies. That's not the point I intended to make in the aforementioned statement regarding my 'User Page.' On the contrary, what I'm attempting to communicate is that I hope to contribute to this site in the same way I esteem to do through my own writing -- namely, to the world at large.

If there's anyone out there who might help provide a bit of guidance, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
