Sebei Cultural Leadership

Allow me begin by greeting all Sabinys; Boyik Subay? Chesok Takwenyo?

it should be understood that right from the beginning Sebei people would listen from Matui the grate grate prophet, Sebei leadership was prophesized by Matui the grate prophet from Kapchai clan. he prophesized that a grate leader would come who will lead Sebei in a positive developmental direction.

it should be noted that it came to pass when he said the same child had been conceived and all people were inquisitive to know from where which he said from Wangari family. the prophet then recommended that the wife (Wangari's wife) would spent time at his place until she gives birth which Wangari denied. a few days to give birth, the grate prophet sent someone (only known to Sebei people) to go and tell the wife to come and gave birth at his home such that rituals would be made. this person went and starting drinking alcohol from Kapkwirwok currently known as Sipi. he then sent another person who reached when the woman had already given birth. the prophet became disturbed and said oh! how can Wangari leave the cloud of sin over shadow the leadership of his child. The people inquired whether the leadership would come to pass which he said yes but in a short run.

Behold the late Chemonges prominently known us "kingo" was born. to cut the story short, Chemonges went and worked in Kenya and then the Sabiny people begged him to come and contested as a member of parliament for Grate Kapchorwa district. he feared loosing his job and they recommended to him to seek for leave which he did, came and won politics

during the Dr Milton Abotes regime, he requested the Kabaka of Buganda to reduce the number of his members and absorb cultural leaders from different tribs. the formation of cultural leaders was adopted and pass by members of parliament with Chemonges inclusive, they gave them a break to go home and choose for cultural leaders. the member of parliament came and gave the news to Kapchorwa district council members and he proposed Chemaswet as the cultural leader from Kapchai with his origin from Matui the grate who are able to tell about the future.

Alot of confusion occurred during the day of selecting with some people like (confidential for Sebei people) days and time ran when the parliament needed back the information from respective constituencies, someone miss advised the member of parliament hon Chemonges ...that he is possible for him to be the cultural leader as well as the member of parliament instead of being given to someone who would need interpretation in discussion meetings. Because he had respect and friendship with Matuis' Lineage and Chemaswet he feared going back to Kampala via Towei where Chemaswet was living, he decided to go via Suam Kenya to Kampala. the Baganda refused to adopt this system and this made it difficult for Abotes regime to implement their strategy and the government was no more with Dr Milton Abote

a curse was then spell to the entire Sebei Sub region that nothing good was going to come out for the disrespect of cultural leadership decision made by Chemonges for a period of 60 years which ended in 2000, any one who would attempt to be king would die and those attempting wouldn't live well which came to pass.

From 2000 up to now, there has been peace and its now that Sebei needs to choose a cultural leader

it must to be understood that in Uganda we have two types of Kings, the royal family who are not elected and those who are elected per term of office and the Sabiny are those who are not elected but hereditary.
