Early life

[edit]

In his time at NYU, he wrote an off-broadway show called "I’ll Be Damned" which was at the Vineyard Theatre in New York City in 2010.[3]

YouTube Career

[edit]

Black is best known for adding lyrics to video game music on YouTube.[4] He is known most commonly by his YouTube username, brentalfloss. His most popular lyrics include words set to the first two levels of Doctor Wily's castle from Mega Man 2 and the main theme to Tetris.[5] Black's channel, brentalfloss, currently has over 100,000 subscribers.[6]

Beyond YouTube

[edit]

Due to his popularity, Black has gone beyond making YouTube videos, and has branched out into releasing albums. His first CD, "What if This CD... Had Lyrics?" was released in the spring of 2010.[7] This CD has had tracks in the top 100 on iTunes comedy charts worldwide.[8] Brent Black released his second CD entitled " What if This CD DIDN'T Have Lyrics" on may 19th 2011.[9] the CD is a karaoke version of his first CD and he also has made "G rated" Lyrics for younger audiences to listen to his music.[10] In addition at a Convention in Cincinnati Ohio on March 18-20th B lack mentioned in a Q and A he was considering writing a new Broadway production incorporating Video games. ( Brent Black would need to make a you tube video confirming this if he still intends to.) Also in the same Q and A he mentioned he would love to do the music for a retro Final fantasy game. ( again need his confirmation on this)
