DMDD symptoms commonly overlap with bipolar disorder and ADHD, making it difficult to contribute arousal symptoms to DMDD alone. [1]

Youth diagnosed with DMDD also showed symptoms that almost entirely overlapped with ODD symptoms and showed no significant difference regarding behavioral impairments of comorbidity. [2]

With a diagnosis of DMDD at an early age (6 years), it is predictive of several comorbidities including ODD, mood disorders, and ADHD in a three-year longitudinal study. [3]
