Simon L. Dolan (Israel, 20 of october 1947) is doctor in Human Resources and work psychology in ESADE,[1] president of the Global Future of Work Foundation (GFWF),[2] writer and university professor.

Biography

His father David was a medical doctor at the Kibutz in the Negev and his mother Lola was a cosmetic. He has a one brother, Avishai, and he was married to Adela Maldonado, and together they have five children (2 from his first marriage and 3 from Adela first marriage).

Research

Has studied in Israel and in the United States. After completing undergraduate and graduate studies in Israel, obtained his doctorate degree in Human Resources Management and Work Psychology at the University of Minnesota (Carlson Graduate School of Management/IR Center) between 1973-1977.[3]

Begun studying stress and values in 1976, while he was a doctoral candidate Human Resources Management and Work Psychology while collecting data at the Mayo Clinic (affiliated to the university of Minesota). There, he noted that close to 90% of patients who had survived their first heart attack while had no antecedents of coronary ill health, attributed their situations to work, and more specifically to stress at work.[4][5] Years later, and following long investigation afterwards, he has reached the conclusion that the universe of values can be divided into three axes, which was the basis for his development of the Triaxial Model of Values.[6][7] The latter includes the: ethical-social axis,[8] emotional-developmental axis[9][10] and the economic-pragmatic axis.[11][12] Was nominated twice by the University Ramon Llull for two prestigios awards: The national Research Award of Catalunya (2015), and the BBVA award in “Frontiers of Knowledge” (2019).

Professor

A full profesor of Human Resources Management and holder of the ESADE Future of Work Chair at ESADE Business School between 2001 and 2017, in parallel was Human Resources Management professor at University Ramon Llull located in Barcelona. Before, he taught the University of Montreal as well as University McGill in Canadá between 1978 until 2002, in between he taught for short periods at the University of Colorado and at the University of Boston, in School of Advanced Trade Studies and Business School ESSEC in France.[13]

Served as an assessor and part of the research funding commistees for the Government of Quebec - Society and culture (FCAR), in the research allocation committe on Health and Safety of the government of Belgium (Office of the Prime Minister), on the comitte of Health and Walfare Canada and on the Hong Kong commission for research. Also serve don the I.A.S. (in France) and the Israel national research Foundation. In Spain served as an assessor to the Ministry of Education and Science of Spain. Also serve don thel Research Policy Program, department of health in the United Kingdom, member of the evaluation commite of the Social Research foundation in Quebec and the Ministry of Education of the government of Quebec,[14][15] as well as member assessor of the Quebec Research Institute on Health and Safety at Work (IRSST), and also in the Canada Social and Humanity Researcgh Council.[16]

Authorship

Has published over 70 books, many have been translated to several languages.[17] También ha publicado más de 150 artículos en revistas científicas[18][19][20] Additionally, have published more tan 150 artícles in refreers journals as well as chapters in books. Was member of the editorial board of several Emerald Group Publishing and the Wiley Publisher, HEC Montreal. He has served on the board of editors of numerous scientific journals. Was the editor-in-chief of Emerald´s de Cross Cultural Management , for 7 years. In 2011 received the Emerald best editor award. In the 2020 edition of Expo coaching was nominated to received the best book in coaching for his book “Más Coaching por Valores”.[21]

Business Consulting

Since 2018, all his activities are centered in the Global Future of Work Foundation (GFWF), for which he holds the position of a president.[22][23]

In 1978 has created in Montreal a consulting firm called "Gestión MDS Management Inc", that dedicates to the training and education of managers in west French Speaking Africans, helping executives become more efficient and more effective and at the same time reduce corruptive behavior.[24]
