Proposal For Wikipedia Article: Paroxysmal exercise-induced dystonia
Emily Palmquist, Tucker Ruel, and Paul McBride
What we know: Paroxysmal exercise-induced dystonia is also known as PEID (or PED) appears to be a condition that is characterized by dystonic posture which is irregular posture that may be characterized with twitches or other muscle spasms and involuntary movements. PEID is induced with prolonged exercise, and may be in association with epilepsy.
What we want to cover in our article:
Symptoms
- What physically happens to those effected
- Neurological symptoms as well
- What conditions cause symptoms to be expressed
Causes
- Is it a genetic mutation
- If you have it how likely are your kids to have it as well
- What neurological mechanisms are defective
- How many people are affected
Treatments
- Are there any drugs or therapies for those affected
How we will split up the work:
All group members are responsible for gathering background information so that a general understanding of the topic is reached. From there divisions will be made and Emily will be responsible for Symptoms, Paul will be responsible for Causes, and Tucker will be responsible for Treatments. For the most part the project will be done as a group so that all members become experts on the topic. Different sources will be divided up amongst the group members so that each one of us has one primary and one secondary source to study and gather information. The paper and editing will be done as a group.
