About Me I am a high school student taking running start classes and have grown up here in the Pacific NorthWest. I really enjoy spending time with my friends and family and just doing simple things. Mundane tasks and errands can be so much more entertaining with good people and good energy surrounding you. I have one dog and his name is Louis and when the weather is nice I like to throw the ball for him or go out and play tennis with my sister on the local courts. When the weather isn't so nice I like finding new pasta recipes to try and watching cartoons or doing yoga. My dog Louis is a golden retriever and even though Goldens are known to be super energetic and need lots of exercise[1], Louis is a big couch potato, we watch cartoons together. My Wikipedia Interests I am new to being a Wikipedia logged in user so I'm not sure what my interests are just yet, I've used it for random projects in school before and I definitely can see myself using it to learn more fun facts about different sea animals.

Article Evaluation

[edit]

I wanted to look at the nail art page because I love getting my nails done in fun ways and I love seeing the elaborate sets that other people get, I even had a phase where I was trying to do my own nails, so nail art is what I decided to go with. Upon checking out the Nail Art article on Wikipedia, I found three aspects of it worth commenting on: its completeness, its citations, and age as some of the sources are out of date.

Completeness

[edit]

Reading through the background and history of nail art section it is definitely leaving out a lot of information on how black culture has influenced and brought a lot of relevance to nails and nail art in today’s world, it also leaves out the mention of black culture in the social relevance section which feels like that information should be included when such a big role was played. There are also a few places in the page where it says citation needed which makes it feel that much less researched and more unfinished.

Citations

[edit]

There is a lot of citations that are on the page, but they feel like they are very poorly placed and/or in the least necessary places. There are areas where there’s a lot of information given with few relevant sources like in the beginning of the history section of the article there is a lot of facts and information without a source but then a few paragraphs down there’s a bunch of citations clustered together and some are out of order, missing, or there are a few dead links which isn't good.

Age

[edit]

I noticed that while most of the sources are pretty current and up to date from within the past 5 years, that a good amount of the are from over 10 years ago and that doesn’t automatically make it irrelevant but a couple aren’t needed as they have a lot to do with trends at the time and a lot of policies having to do with tools and ingredients have changed over the years and so those sources aren’t as relevant or accurate and could use an update.

Conclusion

[edit]

Overall I think that the page is very thorough and has a lot of good information that varies on all different aspects of nail art, there is just some updating and refining to the sources and organization of information that I think could be done to really improve the article as a whole.
