Semantic Dyslexia

[edit]

Semantic dyslexia is a form of dyslexia. Dyslexia is a learning disability. So in turn Semantic Dyslexia is a learning disability in which a person will distort a word or misread a word. The misreading of the word usually happens because of the confusion of the meaning that a word gives. [1] People with semantic dyslexia may say a subordinate, a synonym or antonym of a word instead of the given word. The perfect examples of this is seeing or reading the word dog as cat or fox. [2] They may misread words such as twist as twisted or buy as bought. Some people who have semantic dyslexia have trouble reading function words such as of, an not and and. [3]
