From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Template:AnonymousWelcome is up for discussion. While I have used the template rather extensively, I hadn't inspected it carefully in a long time, and several good points have been raised about its wording. In response, I have drafted a replacement template.

Proposed new (or revised) template

Improvements

[edit]

The new wording

  • includes additional welcoming language at both the beginning and the end;
  • states explicitly that users are valued even if they choose not to register;
  • provides links to intro and help pages;
  • asks users to sign talk page comments and explains how;
  • contains a thoroughly overhauled list of registration benefits, with fewer bulleted points that are more logically arranged and revised wording that is more up-to-date and conveys more information more clearly. Please note there is now no mention of XfD votes.

Feedback

[edit]

Comments and suggestions are much appreciated. (I'm aware there may be coding errors; I'm a template virgin. If I get positive feedback here, I might want to play around with background colors to make it a little more attrative, but I've tried to keep things simple for this draft.)

I placed a colon in front of the category Welcome templates, thus removing this page from the category while it is under development. Other than that, I like what I see here. Keep up the good work. Senator2029 (talk) 18:17, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
