Highlife the name of an Afro-pop inspired band which centers around Sleepy Doug Shaw and was formed "on a 2008 trip to Trinidad’s Gaspar Grand Island"[1].
The project first gained notorioty in June of 2009 when the track 'F Kenya RIP' was leaked and the track garnered praise on the website Gorillavsbear.net[2] with it later being reposted in Spin Magazine in their "Songs You Must Hear Now" Section. [3].
In January of 2009 Highlife toured the United Kingdom supporting Animal Collective. [4]
The band's debut record, Best Bless was released September 28th, 2010 on The Social Registry.
