Overview

MECA (Mobile Electronics Competition Association) is a club based in the United States focused on car audio and electronics competitions. Founded in 1999 by Steve Stern, MECA has grown from a grassroots effort based primarily in the Mid-Southern states of Tennessee, Kentucky and West Virginia into an organization spanning from California to Virginia. MECA has also hosted competitions in Trinidad, the US Virgin Islands, Brazil, China and the United Kingdom.

Competition Formats

MECA features the Sound Pressure League (SPL), Sound Quality League (SQL) and Show 'N Shine League.

Sound Pressure League

Competitors in the Sound Pressure League attempt to produce as much Sound Pressure, measured in unweighted decibels (dB), as possible within the vehicle.

Sound Quality League

[edit]

Competitors in the Sound Quality League are judged subjectively by 1-3 judges who listen for clarity, accurate musical reproduction tonally and accurate staging reproduction.
