The New School, in Norwood, Croydon, south London is an independent democratic run school. It is mixed gender and teaches children up to 16.[1]
The school uses principles of sociocracy.[2]
History
[edit]Former mainstream teacher Lucy Stephens spent a number of years researching school models valuing relationships equity and inclusion.[3]
Research
The school has been included in the University of Nottingham educational evaluation [4] and in Brick by Brick: How do we build a world without prisons by Cradle Community, as an example of non-punitive education.[5]
