Radio InfoWeb

Radio InfoWeb is a live streaming Internet radio station, based in New York, NY. The programming format has been Progressive Rock centered Freeform in the style initially attributed to Bob Fass at WBAI (date, link?) but had spread rapidly (links?) to major cities across the US. The station remains streaming 24x7 since 7/4/1996. The station began reliably broadcasting Democracy Now! (link) on or about 2PM Weekdays in 2012.

Radio InfoWeb started from two initial threads.

1. Pirate FM Station "90.3FM" (no call letters were used) covering a portion of Rockland County South of Nyack, NY. The station began broadcasting at about 1.5 watts mono intermittently in 1994, and gradually developed to a 24hr broadcast, still in mono but increased to 7 watts and a better antenna in 1996. It was at this time that the station's programming merged with "Radio InfoWeb", with the merge becoming officially complete on July 4th, 1996.

2. InfoWeb.net - the infoweb.net domain had been dormant except for a cover page by (citation: soap opera composer, piermont (with later disputes)). The domain real estate was hastily pressed into service with the launch of the streaming audio service. It was initially called "InfoWeb Radio", and was re-branded "Radio InfoWeb" (some date, citation) in 1999. The re-branding was in recognition of the fact that the majority of Internet listeners were outside the US, and it was hoped the new name would give the station a more international feel. Throughout its history to-date, the URL has been voiced as "radio dot infoweb dot net" which has redirected to radioinfoweb.net since 2010 (check date).
