Development of Ylang-Ylang flower

Ylang-Ylang flower also known as Cananga Odorata flower, family to the Annonaceae, Genus: Cananga.

The Ylang-Ylang is a tropical plant that originates from the humid tropics of South-East Asia and could also be found in the Pacific Islands. Its flowers that blooms twice a year possess a unique and delicate fragrance which is more active in the night. With fragrance so beautiful, it could be used as a beneficial beauty product, such as perfumes and essential oils.

The Ylang-ylang flower growth begins in a form of a bud and as it develops, its petals are visible and green in the display-petal stage, initial-flowering stage and full-flowering stage. The flower gradually changes color to yellow in the last few stages (end-flowering stage and wilted-flowering stage) before it withers, and while it is yellow, the fragrance is much stronger than when it is green. In the final stage of the beautiful Ylang-Ylang flower, its petals have fallen off and the sepal, pistil and stamen could be shown.
