The Ritz London Hotel

[edit]

You're welcome to join me in getting it up to GA of course, it also has a fair connection to film, literature and high society! It would be good if you could look through the Times and newspaper archives especially or google books or whatever for more info. Only if you're interested though, don't feel obliged! Just added a photo of it under construction :-)♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:51, 3 March 2015 (UTC)

Can you find an image for Peter Beatty? Likely will have to be fair use but an image would be good.♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:22, 19 March 2015 (UTC)

DYK for Waldorf–Astoria (New York, 1893)

Coffee // have a cup // beans // 10:57, 6 March 2015 (UTC)

Can you find some more images of him which can be used? Interesting chap, I might try to look more into him. [1] is surely PD...♦ Dr. Blofeld 23:25, 10 March 2015 (UTC)

I uploaded that one. Can you find one of Joseph Christmas Ives. One here, but a larger document image of him might be available. If not then a crop of that should suffice.♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:09, 11 March 2015 (UTC)

Great job on Gates, another interesting Waldorf character! I smelled rogue as soon as I read his name in my book haha! I may find some more on him and help you get him to GA. Definitely will resume with the Ritz tomorrow though..♦ Dr. Blofeld 23:11, 12 March 2015 (UTC)

Holy Moly, J.W. is looking good!♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:13, 16 March 2015 (UTC)

Pink marble sounds groovy man! Will definitely work on the Ritz article tomorrow, I've been feeling pretty tired of late.. If I don't you can cast me into the magma or piranha tank as punishment!.♦ Dr. Blofeld 00:05, 18 March 2015 (UTC)

Emailed.♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:37, 19 March 2015 (UTC)

Can you do me a favour and reference the content I added to the 1916 source?♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:33, 23 March 2015 (UTC)

The Sound of Music

[edit]

Hello, We hope. I am working on The Sound of Music article and haven't had much luck finding production images of the 1965 film that are not copyrighted. I'm looking for photos taken of the cast during filming, and perhaps photos of director Robert Wise on the set or screenwriter Ernest Lehman. Any ideas? Regards, Bede735 (talk) 00:45, 17 March 2015 (UTC)

I have opened the 2nd PR as the article's first FAC was withdrawn recently due to prose issues. Feel free to leave comments. Ssven2 Speak 2 me 14:01, 18 March 2015 (UTC)

Laurie Anders

[edit]

Do you have access to public domain images of Laurie Anders? She was evidently closely linked to Ken Murray (entertainer), starred in the movie The Marshal's Daughter, and had a hit with Arthur Godfrey in 1951 with the song "I Like the Wide Open Spaces" (Columbia 39404) in 1951. Yup, she's my next project. Thank you, and sure hope I can do you a good turn someday. 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 20:33, 19 March 2015 (UTC)

I would be most honored, not to mention it sounds like fun! Funny thing on my end, I was just thinking of trying to get that to Good Article status myself. 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 20:51, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
That's perfect, of course. Laurie will have to wait now that you've got me chomping on the bit to tickle Elmo. Where do you want me to start? 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 21:05, 20 March 2015 (UTC)
I don't have access to newspapers.com. I do have access to JSTOR, HighBeam, and De Gruyter. Have you checked Teblick's OTR sources? I can start there if you haven't. Otherwise, if you've got a couple of scans to send, I'll get started on those. 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 14:44, 22 March 2015 (UTC)

Gene Roddenberry

[edit]
Probably not what they had in mind at the FA review for "Space Seed"

Inspired by the work on "Space Seed", I've started improving the Gene Roddenberry article (although I fear that it's going to end up as long as the Abraham Lincoln article by the time I'm done). I did a quick look on eBay for potential images and I found one that might be of use for the Roddenberry article (although no good for "Space Seed") as someone is selling a copy of the high school yearbook for Roddenberry's senior year. That would place the photo as created in 1939. Would you be able to check to see if there were any copyright renewels for Franklin High School yearbooks? Because if not then I'd like to snag the scan of the image for the article. Miyagawa (talk) 13:19, 23 March 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for your advice, I've done as you suggested. Hence the image. :) Miyagawa (talk) 19:03, 23 March 2015 (UTC)

Books

[edit]

I've reached page 60 of the Binney book. It's beautifully illustrated. If it's OK with you I'll reach page 100 and leave the last two or three chapters for you. That way I can ask the foundation to send you both Ritz books (the 1980 book also you'll need to add something from the last two chapters), and ask them to send you the Waldorf book at the same time. I think I'll be another week or so before sending them back. BTW, Ritchie and myself were planning on getting Piccadilly up to GA, can you find more info on it? Finding content about the road rather than area might be tricky in some of the newspaper archives.♦ Dr. Blofeld 22:45, 24 March 2015 (UTC)

I'll be finished with the Binney book in about a week I think. I'll contact the foundation and ask them to email you and arrange for them to send you the two books on the Ritz and the Waldorf together.♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:33, 25 March 2015 (UTC)

Can you upload the first image when google imaging Allá en el Norte? I can't access it but you might be able to save it in the preview. I'll add the rationale, no worries.♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:19, 25 March 2015 (UTC)

Having a job getting the film poster for Catita es una dama too.♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:32, 27 March 2015 (UTC)

Hey can you upload a cover for this cropped and without the watermark? It's for the book which somebody tried to speedy on my talk page.♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:21, 30 March 2015 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

[edit]
The Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar
For the effort you've put into helping me and many others find great content online that we can use while improving articles. Thanks, We hope! Rationalobserver (talk) 23:44, 24 March 2015 (UTC)

Well deserved! WH I've sent the Ritz books back today. I've left the last two chapters of the gold 1980 book and up to about page 72 of the Binney one, about half way for you! Has Richard been in contact with you to arrange sending to your address?♦ Dr. Blofeld 09:46, 8 April 2015 (UTC)

Haha File:Monkeys Prefer Blondes poster.jpg, just don't show an admin on here, otherwise you'll be blocked for racism!♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:26, 10 April 2015 (UTC)

Question about expired copyrights

[edit]

What tag should I use for materials from the Hawley source? I uploaded one of her sketches (File:Excavation map of Chetro Ketl by Florence M. Hawley (1934).png), but I'm not sure how to fill out the licensing part of the form. Rationalobserver (talk) 19:19, 25 March 2015 (UTC)

Any chance of finding a downloadable version of this image? Rationalobserver (talk) 21:35, 27 March 2015 (UTC)

What do you think about the Huntington Digital Library? It's recently come up at a PR ([2]), but it looks like many of those images are copyrighted, and more to the point it would be difficult to tell which ones are under copyright and which ones are PD, assuming that many of them are. Rationalobserver (talk) 19:08, 28 March 2015 (UTC)

Explaination

[edit]

I'm not sure of your argument as to why my photos are possibly unfairly used. I admit the Jimmie Robinson one was added by a mixup of links, but there is no wrongdoing with the rest, just because you found similar images on other websites.

Please state your case at Possibly Unfree Files. We hope (talk) 21:15, 11 April 2015 (UTC)

But you just look kinda foolish because all the examples you are giving from websites are irrelevant. None of my copies originated from the Internet so I don't see your argument. Could you explain?

Then go to PUF to explain why identical copies are appearing on the internet. We hope (talk) 21:22, 11 April 2015 (UTC)

I do not have time for this. I'm just trying to tell you, your argument had no backing, so you didn't waste your time because I can tell when you are on good leads, then you are very helpful. I'm afraid though that this lead goes nowhere for you.

That's entirely up to you re: time for PUF. We hope (talk) 21:30, 11 April 2015 (UTC)

Please end your alerts of the unjust addition of my images to those lists you are pointing them on. If there is this much trouble by me for adding them, then I give you permission to delete them all. I was just trying to FAIRLY add my own images to articles.

FYI

[edit]

This may or may not be of interest to you. Montanabw(talk) 21:36, 11 April 2015 (UTC) : [3]

I would rather not get involved with this. We hope (talk) 01:20, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
Understood. No worries. Montanabw(talk) 06:05, 12 April 2015 (UTC)

Elmo Tanner

[edit]

Done. I can't remember what wording was bugging me, so I went ahead and nominated it. It will come out in the review, if there's anything amiss. It is truly an honor to work with you on this. 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 13:29, 12 April 2015 (UTC)

Re: Best wishes from me

[edit]

Nice picture, thanks. Here's to another year. This is Paul (talk) 18:33, 14 April 2015 (UTC)

Thanks again. :) This is Paul (talk) 18:45, 14 April 2015 (UTC)

Can you find an image?♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:14, 15 April 2015 (UTC)

Also, can you upload an image of the novel cover and infobox for A Hill Above the CloudsDr. Blofeld 12:49, 15 April 2015 (UTC)

Thank You Elmo!

[edit]

Thank you, profusely, for all your work on bringing Elmo Tanner to good article status! My first GA! I have to admit I'm not expecting a lot more for articles I create, as I tend to work in the obscure corners of music history. Perhaps Maurice Rocco has potential. Apologies I had to disappear just as crunch-time came, but Elmo was in the best of hands. 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 14:12, 21 April 2015 (UTC)

O' Neal

[edit]

Hi, can you crop File:Ryan_O'Neal_and_Leigh_Taylor-Young.JPG and shade out the actress in it. I want to use that image in the main Kubrick article. It's the nearest I could find to his look in Barry Lyndon.♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:16, 25 April 2015 (UTC)

You can always blank your talk page...

[edit]

...if you want. What about archive pages though? --George Ho away from home (talk) 20:40, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

George, first of all tell me why you want to blank any of your pages, please. We hope (talk) 21:32, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
Not mine; yours. That was when I wanted you to preserve your archives for easier navigation. In fact, you blanked your pages because it's convenient for you to do so. But I convinced you, even when you weren't enthusiastic about archiving it. However, time has passed, and maybe I shouldn't have back then persuaded you to change your editing preferences on your user talk page. I have my way of archiving. Others have their own ways. What's your decision now? --George Ho away from home (talk) 21:37, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
OK-I want to still keep a record of my page as I did before. The last archive of my talk page was in 2014. I'm open to anything that keeps order but still preserves the posts in archive. We hope (talk) 21:43, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

Hi, can you find anything more on any of these?♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:13, 30 April 2015 (UTC)

Images request

[edit]

Hi. Hope you're well. Birdienest our resident Academy Award featured list'er and I are updating the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor article. I think it would be really great if we could use your expert skills on rustling up some pictures of actors preferably from the time when they won the award or in their award winning role? Pictures of the winners from the early years would be the most useful. I know you're pretty busy but do you think you could help out? Best wishes, Cowlibob (talk) 02:15, 1 May 2015 (UTC)
