Forthaven (Musician) Forthaven (born Julian Charles Roberts, aka ‘Jay’, 1977) is a British musician, scientist, web designer, composer, songwriter and record producer, originally from Essex but now produces music and websites from a Liverpool base. Forthaven began as a producer alias, which Jay still uses for his work with artists and is credited as such – but has become its own concept and collective. In late 2013 the debut album of Forthaven’s own work was released titled ‘Histrionic’ which was well received locally, nationally and internationally; four songs featuring on Tom Robinson’s BBC6 show and others gaining significant international airplay. He also has featured commercial licenced tracks for several major advertising campaigns, and has been regularly played in major radio stations in Australia. Forthaven has been compared to the styles of Massive Attack, Curve, and Laika. Forthaven collaborates widely, producing remixing and performing, as well as maintaining a solid foundation in bass playing, which he is skilled at over a 20 year career in bands and as a session musician. He is currently working on new material due for release in autumn 2014.
