Departments
[edit]- Computer Science Department
The Department of Computer Science (CS) has been providing its students with a state-of-the-art computer science curriculum since its establishment in 2010. Computer Science is a fascinating field driving scientific and technological progress, creating the tools that advance society and improving our quality of life. To meet the demand in the job market for accomplished computer science professionals, the Department offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programs which are: A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science (CS), A Bachelor of Science degree in Cyber Security and Digital Forensics (CYS), and A Master of Science in Computer Science (MSCS).
- Computer Information Systems Department
The Department of Computer Information Systems (CIS) is committed to providing its majors with a solid foundation in research and analyses; expertise in designing systems, as well as creating and protecting databases and networks. The Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems is a rigorous program that prepares its graduates for not only a professional career in the business world but its graduates are also well equipped to tackle the academic challenges of graduate study.
- Networks and Communications Department
The Cyber Security and Digital Forensics Program at CCSIT is intended to produce skilled professionals to understand the processes that impact information security, safeguarding information assets, collection and preservation of digital evidences, analysis of data, and identification and fixing of security vulnerabilities. The major courses include: Cyber Laws & Security Policy, Mathematical Foundations of Information Security, Network Forensics & Intrusion Detection, Information System Audit, Network Security, Digital Evidence Analysis, Architecture of Secure Operating System, Digital Forensic Techniques and Tools, Information Security Management & Standards, Mobile & Wireless Security, Secure Software Design and Engineering, Security Threats & Vulnerabilities, and Applied Cryptography.
- Computer Engineering Department
Next-generation information systems will facilitate flexible dialogue between people and machines using language, voice, images, and other media. In other words, it will be possible to build intelligent information systems to help humanity to think creatively rather than simply to be operated by human beings. In order to instill the knowledge and technologies for developing such intelligent systems, the Computer Engineering (CE) department, through its Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence (AI) program offering, is committed to preparing its graduates for (1) Acquiring the knowledge and skills for developing various intelligent information systems through a basic grasp of computer science and information processing technology, (2) Developing novel techniques of intelligent information processing in which computers collaborate with human beings, by learning various technologies in intelligent information processing, and finally (3) Mastering the fundamentals of mathematics and natural sciences.
Programs
[edit]In order to meet the growing demand in the job market for accomplished computer science and information technology professionals who possess the latest scientific and technological skills, the College offers four undergraduate programs and one postgraduate program:
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (CS)
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems (CIS)
- Bachelor of Science in Cyber Security and Digital Forensics (CYS)
- Bachelor of Science in Artifactual Intelligence (AI)
- Master of Science in Computer Science (MSCS) for special majors (Big Data and Cloud Computing - Information Security - Software Engineering)
Programs Policies
[edit]- Programs Overview
Students are exposed gradually to different sets of courses. Typically, by the time of graduation, they should have completed two terms at preparatory year program provided by the Deanship of Preparatory Year and
Supporting Studies and eight terms at CCSIT programs.
- Preparatory Year
Students must successfully complete 29 credits hours in the Preparatory year (two terms) before admission into the first year at the College of Computer Science and Information Technology.
- Common Years
The term “Common years” refers to the first two years at the College of Computer Science and Information Technology since Computer Science, Computer Information Systems and Cyber Security and Digital Forensics students are required to take the same courses (for a total of 63 credit hours) during these two years.
- Specialization Years
The specialization years encompass the last two years of college. By this time, the student will have entered one of three programs, based on their choice of degree.
Abet Accredited Programs
[edit]
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (CS) & Computer Information Systems (CIS)
Quality education has always high importance, as it becomes the base of development for the community. Different parameters are linked with quality education like Curriculum selection by knowing the needs of the industry, physical infrastructure and other facilities of the campus. The mission of CCSIT reflects its aim for quality in its educational programs to meet the challenges in current Information Technology age.
It is an honor for the College to achieve ABET Accreditation in BS programs for Computer Science and Computer Information Systems. The College strongly emphasizes on building its educational process in consideration with standards set by ABET.
ABET (Accreditation Board for engineering and Technology) is the recognized accreditor for college and university programs in applied science, computing, engineering, and technology. Among the most respected accreditation organizations in the U.S., ABET has provided leadership and quality assurance in higher education for over 75 years.
