Masticating Juicer
[edit]
Masticating juicer is a machine which use a single auger to compact and crush fruits, vegetables and wheat grass into smaller pieces before squeezing out the juice between the auger and a fine strainer, while the wastage pulp is ejected through a separate outlet.
Overview
[edit]
Masticating juicer technology is designed to open up the cells of the fruits and vegetables to squeeze maximum of enzymes and proteins.
Most important in this technology is that the gear rotates at the rate of 40-100 RPM, depending of masticating juicer model, which is ideal for keeping all the natural nutrients intact, squeezing the juice without any kind of oxidation.
The slow compression method of extracting juice is done at a cool temperature. Because of this, the slow juicing method retains heat-sensitive nutrients such as Vitamins A and C, and live enzymes.
History
[edit]
In the mid-1950s, the first juicer was invented by Champion. The Champion juicer had a high speed of 4,000 rpm and causes a big friction. Because of this, the juice was heated and destroys all nutrients and live enzymes.
The Greenpower juicer was the first twin-gear juice extractor in the world, produced for the first time in 1993.
This juicer was the first based on old mortar-and-pestle method of pressing out the maximum living nutrients from fruits and vegetables without overheating.
