Richard Waldron III, Secretary of the Province of New Hampshire, and an opponent of the "Wentworth oligarchy". As Province Secretary and confident of Governor Jonathan Belcher, he "practically ruled" the colonial province of New Hampshire from about 1730 to 1741 in the name of the absent Belcher and to the discomfort of Lieutenant-Governor David Dunbar. was grandson of Major Richard Waldron and first child of Richard Waldron (Colonel) and father of Harvard College student Richard Waldron IV and of Colonel Thomas Westbrook Waldron.
