Datatreya Satya Prakash(born 20th April 1984), commonly known as Satya Prakash, is an Indian film director, screenwriter, and producer who predominantly works in Kannada film industry.[1] The Government of Karnataka honored him with the best debut director state award[2] in the year 2016-2017 [3], acknowledging his contributions to film Rama rama re…[4]


Early life

D Satya Prakash hails from his native Kadur, partial schooling at Hasan St.Joseph’s and pre-University college at Bangalore.Coming from a nonfilm family, D Satya Prakash had not developed interest towards films initially. However Satya's Interest lied on Cricket, but due to circumstances Satya Prakash could not pursue cricket as his career, D Satya Prakash Back in his school days,along with his friends they often wrote and presented 20-minute skits. He also acted in dramas that his grandfather directed.[5] Much later he dropped out of college and had to take a year break and be present at the coffee works retail outlet of his family-run business at his native Kadur, the only company he had there was of books, Satya Prakash later takes up a diploma in computer networking at Shimoga polytechnic college.


Film Career

At end of the final year semester of his diploma D Satya Prakash chooses to quit college and try exploring a career in film as his affinity towards storytelling and reading makes him travel to Bangalore seeking opportunity in Kannada film Industry with parallel part-time jobs in the field of computer networking to survive in the city.


Beginnings: 2007

Lack of opportunity triggered him to make his own short film, along with his then-roommate, Late Ravi he made his first short film called Mamparu[6], the next short film Hegoona[7][[1]] was a film submitted for a short film competition and yet another short film called Sum[8], which won his first recognition as best cinematographer for D Satya Prakash along with which it was selected as one of the top 3 best short film from a regional Kannada news channel called Janashree[9]

In 2007 D Satya Prakash gets his initial break in the film Industry to work as an assistant to National award-winning director T.S.Nagabharna and the next 4 years D Satya Prakash credits his learning from T.S Nagabharna by taking up multiple roles in different projects in filmmaking which made him familiar with the film industries terms and conditions.[10]

Early years and struggle: 2008-2016

• Worked as an Assistant to Director by Mr. T.S. Nagabharana. [11]

• Written a story for the movie “Happy new year” which contains five different stories directed by Mr.Pannaga bharana.[12]

• Dialogue writer for the movie “Endendigu” directed by Imaran Sardariya[13][14]

• Wrote screenplay for the movie “Bhagyaraj” directed by Mr. Deepak Madhuvanahalli [15]

• wrote dialogues for the movie “URVI”[16] directed by Mr.PradeepVarma[17][18]]

Debut Feature Film: 2013 – 2016

D Satya Prakash, started a Production house by name Kannada Kolour cinemasSelf-funded the film with fellow teammates cash and kind support, D Satya Prakash completes the film and credits the rest of the team to have stuck by him till the end.[19] The complete struggle of the making of RAMA RAMA RE… is being documented as a book, which will be published soon, that is penned by B Siddagangaiah Kambal.[20]


Breakthrough: 2016

The Film Rama Rama Re… released on 21st October 2016[21][22] The film got an overwhelming response from the crowd and the film industry celebrities in support of the film. [23][24]

Shashiprasad SM of Deccan Chronicle gave the film 4/5 stars, saying, "An ‘unmissable’ journey of life and death."[25] He also said "Loved every bit of it. Undoubtedly the best feature film of the year."[26]

Sunayana Suresh from The Times of India rated the movie as 4/5 mentioning that "The narrative is definitely the king here, complemented beautifully with a strong cast and crew."[27]

The Hindu[28] “Rama Rama Re unfolds like a song, one that will linger longer in your mind, much after you’ve left the theatre.

Archana Nathan of The Hindu wrote, "Rama Rama Re unfolds like a song, one that will linger longer in your mind, much after you’ve left the theater."[29]

Established producer such as Umapathy films[[2]], who has previously produced films such as Hebbuli with Super Star Kichha Sudeep[34], has now offered D Satya Prakash to make his next film in their production house[35].
