I once made an edit to a Wikipedia article, resulting in -1,418 units, in order to test the response speed and correctional ability of the Wikipedia user base, as there were those who scoffed at me when any mention of Wikipedia arose in conversation; it is said that anyone can edit Wikipedia, and, therefore, Wikipedia is completely unreliable. My counter was to test this directly by editing a page and showing that it would promptly be corrected by the user base. The article content was that of a friend, admittedly insulting, and I was promptly banned for slander. The article was thereafter reverted to its previous form.
But my point was proved, and I am confident that the user base of Wikipedia will make timely corrections and ensure that the content of Wikipedia articles is of top notch quality. I am happy to be a part of such a great community that is dedicated to the accuracy and accessibility of knowledge. In part, the knowledge of Wikipedia will represent the knowledge of the entirety of the human species.
