my talk page

Hey, can I ask you to please use the preview button when responding on my talk page and to respond to Purpleavenger on his own talk page? It gets pretty annoying to get "you have new messages" for every time you correct your own spelling or respond to someone else. ♥♥purplefeltangel 16:19, 30 October 2005 (UTC)

Blocks

Please look at the post I added here so you are aware of the decision behind the block. Thanks, and I'll see you around the Wiki! --HappyCamper 16:58, 30 October 2005 (UTC)

Vandal blocked

Oh, he's blocked- I've also protected his talk page so he can't blank it anymore.--Scïmïłar parley 22:54, 7 November 2005 (UTC)

Vandal

S'OK, I've been an admin now for nearly two years, I'm used to it. -- Francs2000 23:26, 7 November 2005 (UTC)

Incidentally, I thought vandals were supposed to put your wikistress up, not down? -- Francs2000 23:32, 7 November 2005 (UTC)
It's fun isn't it. There's little that's more satisfying while you're in front of a computer screen than blocking and reverting puerile vandalism. Well apart from... no don't answer that. -- Francs2000 23:38, 7 November 2005 (UTC)

Ah, those are links to the same article in other language Wikis. There's a wiki for almost every language, and certain articles can be found on all or most of them. Cheers! BD2412 T 13:58, 9 November 2005 (UTC)

 • Fear not, they're not supposed to show up in the text of the article. Instead, they show up on the left-hand sidebar under "in other languages". BD2412 T 14:11, 9 November 2005 (UTC)

Re SharedIP

Hi Prodego. I'm not 100% sure those IPs are shared, but I am about 90% sure. All of these address were used to link spam articles related to Martha's Vineyard in what seems to be a consistent pattern (see the IP list at Talk:WMVY). As you mentioned, I did an WHOIS search with ARIN and found that they were all VZ-DSLDIAL-BSTNMA netblocks. The consistent pattern of bogus contributions with a shared ISP in what is apparently the same geographic area (Boston, MA) led me to conclude that this was a single editor operating from what are presumably shared IP addresses. Hope that helps! Mike Dillon 16:48, 9 November 2005 (UTC)

I believe Direct Allocation means that a netblock is either a top-level assignment or a subdivision of a netblock that was allocated to the same organization. In other words, it is not subdelegated from the assignee to another organization. Mike Dillon 16:58, 9 November 2005 (UTC)

Thank you very much

Sorry bout hogging all the vandals. :'D In future be sure to include a timestamp. Yeah I know it doesn't look very good in the image frame, but it helps one organize things in chronology. - RoyBoy 800 21:46, 9 November 2005 (UTC)

No, it was not. Kelly Martin (talk) 21:51, 9 November 2005 (UTC)

Re: London vandal

He has now been blocked. I was actually just about to block him when I got your message ;). Regards, Scïmïłar parley 19:19, 10 November 2005 (UTC)

Yes, lawyering is fun.

I love being a lawyer - it's a whole different world. What I do is read statutes and cases in order to advise my clients on the strategies they should pursue with claims they may have, or may have been made against them. Since most claims are made of elements (if you can prove x, y, and z, you win) a big part of the job is gathering the facts and coming up with arguments to demonstrate how they fit x, y, and z in just the right way. Or how they don't. BD2412 T 04:14, 11 November 2005 (UTC)

I'm quite aware of the methods of He who shall not be named on wheels. Nevertheless, I can find no evidence that anyone is using Villy on Veals at all - I mean, I could say "watch out for ExMartianBanana160423 on Wheels", but that would be meaningless since there is no such account (even though just writing the name creates a redlinked user and talk page). BD2412 T 18:55, 11 November 2005 (UTC)

 • True... couldn't hurt to pre-emptively block. BD2412 T 19:01, 11 November 2005 (UTC)

"Is this correct?"

Yes, it is. Ral315 (talk) 19:34, 12 November 2005 (UTC)

I've mentioned the brief dispute that we had in my RFA

Hi. I wanted to let you know that I have mentioned our brief dispute over Alleged causes of Hurricane Katrina in my RFA, in response to question 3 (as an example of a conflict I've dealt with). I will not formally accept the nom until December 1, so please let me know if you have any objection to my characterisation of the dispute. Cheers! BD2412 T 16:03, 30 November 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for your support. As to the sig, for your raw sig you need only put:
<font color=darkred>Prodego</font color> <font color=darkred>talk</font color>
Cheers! BD2412 T 18:00, 30 November 2005 (UTC)
Right - keep the raw sig box checked and use the above. Should work (I hope). BD2412 T 18:29, 30 November 2005 (UTC)
ok, try <FONT COLOR="#FF0000">Prodego</font> <FONT COLOR="#FF0000">talk</font>
ok, this is the right formula:
<font style="color:darkred">Prodego</font> <font style="color:darkred">talk</font>
BD2412 T 19:07, 30 November 2005 (UTC)
In case that last one didn't work, I've copied this over from my talk page:
Perhaps the instructions at WP:SIGHELP can be of some use? Titoxd(?!? - did you read this?) 00:25, 1 December 2005 (UTC)

Barnstar

Prodego is hereby awarded the Barnstar of Reversion for his tireless efforts in reverting vandalism on Wikipedia.

!מזל טוב

from Izehar

I found you, because you are a member of the WP:CVU. Most people who are "members" don't really do any cleaning up after vandals, so I checked your contributions, they were full of vandal-reverts and I awarded you the barnstar. Can I ask you a question? When you say you'll be back next year, what does that mean? In the new year (1st Jan 2006), or in 365 days? Izehar 18:47, 30 November 2005 (UTC)

Not really, it is true that I nominated BD2412, and I have his talk page on my watchlist, so when you left him a message, I remembered you. You used to be quite active. About your sig. I know there has been some bug in the system about bugs - it was discussed at the Village Pump a few weeks ago I think. Izehar 18:55, 30 November 2005 (UTC)
