Gundersen BioBank
The Gundersen BioBank is is non-profit medical facility of Gundersen Health System, La Crosse, Wisconsin (USA). The Gundersen BioBank was established in 2008 to collect and analyze biospecimens. The BioBank is a Gundersen Health System initiative that strives to foster greater scientific collaboration. The goal is to provide medical researchers better access to biospecimens for medical research, and ultimately advancing treatment outcomes of cancer, and other disease states. The BioBank houses biospecimens collected from over 20,000 cancer patients.
Who can access Biospecimens?
Biospecimens are available to collaborating academic scientists free of charge, and to industrial partners on a fee-for-service basis.
What types of Biospecimens are available thru Gundersen BioBank?
There are two types of biospecimens available:
- Formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tumor tissue
- Flash-frozen, minimally ischemic tissue with patient-matched plasma and viable leukocytes
BioBank Inventory
Researchers can view available biospecimen inventory to learn more about specific tissues.
Compliance
All tissue specimens are in compliance with the Gundersen Human Subjects Committee. The BioBank is also in compliance with the standards of the National Cancer Institute Standards for Biospecimen Resources. The BioBank is a Tissue Source Site for The Cancer Genome Atlas program of the National Cancer Institute
