Bridging Theatre and Management

Vijay bridges the realms of Management and Theatre in a lot of his work. For instance –

- He was a Trustee of Sanket Foundation, which has built a new theatre in the city of Bangalore, Ranga Shankara.

- The India Foundation for the Arts invited him to be a “mentor” in management for theatre groups supported by them.

- His work in developing the field of Theatre-in-Management is recognized internationally. His continuing interest in training methodology has led to a great deal of innovative cross- fertilization between theatre training and organizational / management development.

- He is currently spearheading a new programme in management development for organizations in performing arts in India and developing countries.

- He was invited by the John F Kennedy Centre to serve as an Advisor for the India Festival, scheduled in March 2011. The Kennedy Centre is also considering the possibility of an association with the Academy of Theatre Arts in Bangalore in developing an Arts Management course in India.

- He was invited to assist the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (supported by the Government of India) as an external consultant in the organization’s strategic planning and organizational restructuring process. He has also helped in developing a Theatre Appreciation programme for CCRT’s work in the Indian school system, which includes an extensive teacher-training programme.
