Siri Bjerke, Artist, Norewegian Paintress and Sculptress

Norwegian fine arts paintress and sculptress, Ms. Siri Bjerke was born in 1957 in Oslo, Norway.

Siri Bjerke is highly educated as a paintress and stone sculptress, from the Norwegian Art Academies in Trondheim and Bergen. Siri Bjerke also attended the University of Bergen where she graduated as Cand.Mag in the arts of Litterature and Theatre Science.

Siri Bjerke has now exeeded in the artworld for 30+ years, her very first public exhibition was held in 1984, a Co-Exhibition at Trøndelagsutstillingen in Norway, Siri Bjerke continues still with various Co-Exhibitions both here in Norway and abroad.

Her first Solo Exhibition was held at Risør Art Association in 1992. After this Siri Bjerke has held and will continue to hold numerous Solo Exhibits both home and abroad.

Siri Bjerke has also produced several Public Decorations, her first unveiling was held at Stange College in Hedmark, Norway. Where she published an oilpainting called "Bomullsblomst" or "Cottonflower" in english. Siri Bjerke, still to this day, delivers Public Decorations all over Norway.

As for Public Procurement sales, Siri Bjerke is definetly at the very top layer of Norwegian artists which has had the somewhat rare opportunity to get this honor. With 20+ artworks now shining in public museums, buildings and public outdoor places all over Norway and Sweden, she has come a long way from her first sale in this category, an oilpainting named "Tassetter" which was procured in 1986 by Norways Museum of Contemperary Art, while still attending The Art Academy.

In fact Siri Bjerke has cut more than 70 metric tons of stone into public art, procured by the various public offices and institutions of Norway. Her sculptures and paintings recides in various countries, some privately owned and some in museums - all over the world. Siri Bjerke has already- and this in her own lifetime- had a major career in the more than often unforgiving world of art, of which most artists can even hope to achieve.

Siri Bjerkes main works concists of oil paintings and stone sculptures, colors burst and stone comes to life as Siri Bjerke lets us in to her magical world of fables, fauna and flora beautifully mixed together as a symphony of her passion for life, love, myth, magic and nature.

It is, to a great extent, a powerful insight into the realm of true visual language and a personal physical presence in Siri Bjerkes artworks, and to behold her paintings and sculptures is a truly poetic unveiling of creative expressionist liberation, and a happening in itself.

The sculptures of Siri Bjerke can both be seen and used at several public places as: Kistefos Museum ( Jevnaker, Norway), Museiparken in Karlstad (Sweden), Fløyen in Bergen (Norway) (This is a small selection - see CV for more places)

Siri Bjerke also gives the viewer an insight in what she refers to as the "self-will of colours" and the "self-will of stones" . With this "self-will concept" Siri Bjerke contemplates the way she creates art by her perceiving and deep understanding of her raw materials. Feeling their complexity, Siri Bjerke only then starts giving birth to her many artworks.
