[edit]Social Media is very powerful and fast growing fenomena and gets more expression and communication possibilities every day. A first there was the possibility to exchange text messages, then photo's, animations, short movies and locations were added. The next step in this evolution is the possibility to send pieces of functionalities or apps to each other. The official term of these type of apps is: "SOAPI".
Soapi is a contraction of the words "social" and "application"
The Characteristics of a Soapi
[edit]A Soapi is:
- A "home-brewed" piece of functionality, created in a simular way as making a document, spreadsheet or presentation;
- Simple to construct, no programming skills or technical knowledge is required;
- Distributed through Social Media;
- Meaningful/useful for a limited group of people;
- Meaningful/useful for a limited period of time.
Examples of a Soapi
[edit]- Person to person communication and interaction:
- Animated invitations, treasure hunts;
- Games, jokes, fun, love declarations;
- Information services for events and competitions;
- Temporary information needs and information exchange.
Soapi Conditions
[edit]- To make a Soapi work one need a build/execute platform. MeApp FUN is an example of such a platform.
- The creator of a Soapi needs to have the tools to make sure that the Soapi is not editted, redistributes or used outside a defined timeframe.
- The Soapi should be constructed on the same platform as it will be used (Smartphones and Tablets) for maximum effect and usability.
