Derby

[edit]

Derby is the home of Rolls Royce aero-engine manufacture. Historically it was an important railway centre and there is still a large railway rolling stock factory in the city. John Osbourne wrote "Look Back in Anger" while he was working as an actor at the Derby Playhouse but the theatre turned it down when he offered it for performance there!

  • Well-connected by road, rail, and air
  • Close to the Peak District National Park
  • Not much else

Jalali Calendar

[edit]

The Jelali calendar was created by a committee of eight "wise men", including the poet Omar Khayyam.[1]
