American Cichlid Association is a membership based special interest group that its primary interest is in the fishes of the family cichlidae. Started in the late 1960's by a group of aquarists led by Guy Jordan.
How it began
[edit]The founding fathers of the Amecican Cichlid Association were Guy Jordan, Paul Loiselle, and numerous others.
Conventions
[edit]Starting in 1972, the group commenced with an annual convention that featured noted speakers, a fish show, visits to local attractions such as aquariums and museums, talks by the various special interest subgroups, a fish auction and an awards banquet.
Many noted ichthyologists, fish collectors and aquarists have been featured throughout the years.
What the American Cichlid Association does
[edit]The organization also publishes a bulletin called the Buntebarche Bulletin.
They maintain a web page dealing with the many interests of the members.
