Hello everyone, and thanks for visiting this little corner of the wiki.

I've been very interested in some of the wiki currents and eddies rolling around our fair encyclopedia of late, and wanted to do a little bit of research.

I know it's a bit rude, but would you mind telling me how old you are?

This info is of course wiki-public, so only submit it if you really don't mind. If you feel like saying something about why you don't fancy telling everyone how old you are - go right ahead....

Also, the youngest editors should be careful about giving exact ages or other identifying information per WP:CHILD guidelines. (thanks to User:Newyorkbrad for pointing this out)

I don't want to tell you because......

People make assumptions about editors based on age, sex, career field, and any other little personal tidbit they can gather; these are generally irrelevant to the quality of editing or the communication between editors. I would consider responding to this question in an anonymous forum where my answer was not linked to my user name; however, right now, the sort of people who like to try to figure out things about people have put this page on their watchlists. I'm a sysop who specializes in complex investigations and dispute resolution, which means I spend a lot of time dealing with the small percentage of troublesome Wikipedians. Some of those people would construe anything in bad faith.
